LIVING WITH ALZHEIMER'S DISEASE

Alzheimer's disease is a progressive degenerative disease that affects approximately four million Americans. The disease attacks the brain and results in impaired memory, thinking and behavior. One in ten individuals over the age of 65 and nearly half of those over the age of 85 will develop the disease.

In June of this year, the Senior Information Referral Program of the Contra Costa County Office of Aging aired its latest program, "Living with Alzheimer's." In upcoming months "Living with Alzheimer's" will be broadcast in Alameda County on Berkeley Community Media, in Solano County on Santa Rosa Community Television, in San Francisco County on Channel 52, and in the City of Richmond on KCRT. The program will also air on other community channels. Individuals should check with their local cable television providers or broadcast listings for times and dates in their area.

Many Alzheimer's disease experts have shared their knowledge and answered questions in the following segments of "Living with Alzheimer's Disease."
